Deep Fate — The Screenplay Is in Development

The deep is coming to the screen.

Deep Fate, the story of a near-future expedition into the Mariana Trench that uncovers a mineral capable of rewriting everything we know about history and the future, is now in development as both a short film and a feature-length screenplay, written by Daniel Meager.

The ocean. The discovery. The secrets that were never meant to surface. The urgent ethical decisions that follow when humanity finds something it isn't ready for. Everything that makes Deep Fate such a compelling read is now being shaped into a screenplay, twice over.

The film will capture the tension and mystery of the discovery in a tight, powerful format. The feature-length version will explore the full depth of what that mineral means for the past, for the present, and for everything that comes next.

Deep Fate is the first chapter in the Deep Trilogy, and now it's the first to make the leap to screen. This is just the beginning.

Written by Daniel Meager. In development now. Watch this space.

SMASH CUT:

1 VFX/CGI - EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY 1

Camera PLUNGES swiftly through waves, descending rapidly,
slicing through 11 kilometres of shifting aquatic layers, the
darkness intensifying...

Huge amounts of BUBBLES.

The DEEP EXPLORER DRILLING STATION (DEDS), a repurposed oil
rig, rests heavily on the trench floor. Its colossal drill, glowing with friction heat, bores relentlessly into Earth's crust, illuminating clouds of debris.

Camera turns and SPEEDS through massive amounts of BUBBLES, 11 kilometres back to the surface, breaking through the waves
like a champagne cork...

2 EXT - BENEATH THE SURFACE – DEDS – DRILL SITE - NIGHT 2

Massive drill tip grinds relentlessly through solid rock.

Depth gauge reads: FIFTY KILOMETRES.

3 INT. PACIFIC OCEAN - RESEARCH VESSEL (DESS) - NIGHT 3
